His team knows him simply as “Dave” — equal parts connector, innovator and force to be reckoned with. An entrepreneur from a young age, Dave’s fate in the telecom world was sealed after watching someone use a computer to make a video call.
His foray into free teleconferencing back in 2001 sparked the viral movement known as FreeConferenceCall.com. Today, the company he founded has grown from $10 URL to the largest and most recognized conferencing and collaboration brand on the planet — with roughly 40 million users across 160 countries each month.
From this bold beginning, Dave went on to pioneer HDTandem, Wyde Voice, StartMeeting ® brought to you by FreeConferenceCall.com For Business™ and FreeConferenceCall.com For Developers™ to name just a few. The array of companies, offering the highest quality solutions for consumers, enterprises and developers, represents an expansive and growing global infrastructure. For Dave, influencing regulations came with the territory. He took an active role in reforming and modernizing the universal service and intercarrier compensation systems through the 2011 Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Connect America Fund (CAF) Order. His continuous efforts have worked to ensure that robust, affordable voice and broadband service, both fixed and mobile, are available nationwide.
With his finger on the pulse of the industry, Dave turned his attention to the groundswell of innovation occurring over the last decade — and the disruptive service providers that have surged into the market. Recognizing that the traditional carrier model was never designed to support such a shift, Dave spotted an opening for a new way forward.
CarrierX reimagines the traditional carrier model and existing PSTN regulations, processes and technology by allowing applications and enterprises to connect across platforms through one network. With the goal of interoperability at the highest level of quality, CarrierX facilitates surges in innovation while delivering the most disruptive economic model to customers.
